talian composer, Domenico Scarlatti (1685-1757) is well-known for his Keyboard compositions. His 555 Keyboard Sonatas remain ever popular to this day, and it is for this reason that this second volume is indispensable toperformers of the genre. Originally composed for the Harpsichord, Organ or early Pianoforte, the Sonatas display the riveting use of discords and unconventional modulations to remote keys. It is also thought that much ofScarlatti\'s Keyboard music contains influences of Iberian music, considering that he spent much of his working life in the service of the Spanish and Portuguese royal families. The second volume, comprising Sonatas 53-103,includes the popular and recognised Sonatas in F minor (K. 69) and B minor (K. 87). Bearing in mind that Domenico Scarlatti was a highly competent and popular Keyboard player in his day, so much so that he was employed in theservice of two royal families, his Sonatas are composed with much experience, understanding and expertise, creating an essential addition to the repertoire of all Keyboard players of the Baroque genre. / Partitions classique / Piano - instruments à clavier / Clavecin / HEUGEL

Cembalo Orgel - Flute Violine - Bc-Score with 3 parts (Flute/Oboe/Violin; Basso Continuo with figures (Cello/Bass); Basso Continuo realised with figures (Harpsichord/Organ)Musical text with arrangements by two Handel contemporaries as well as the editor’s own arrangement for Harpsichord or Organ. All editorial additions are clearly marked.Equally effective when performed note-for-note on the Organ. As early as 1743 while Handel was still alive Francesco Geminiani produced an arrangement of the Water Music for Keyboard instruments thereby making it possible to perform this popular work in domestic surroundings. Then presumably in 1749 an unknown musician arranged theMusic for the Royal Fireworks for transverse Flute or Violin and Harpsichord. In addition to these two contemporary versions this edition also contains an arrangement by the editor for Harpsichord or Organ based on the first edition. Though both early sources explicitly mention a Harpsichord the arrangements can also be performed effectively note-for-note on the Organ. As the surviving anonymous version merely places a solo part and a figured Bass on a two-stave system our edition is accompanied by performance material with one part each for transverse Flute/Oboe/Violin and Violoncello/Double Bass plus a figured Bass realisation.

Here is a winning combination of old and new. This three-movement sonata contrasts the traditional sound of the harpsichord with tonality and syncopation's common to popular music and jazz. There are guitar-like moments in the first and third movements while the second alternates between the baroque and the modern. McLean brings all the character of the instrument to light.

D major BWV 1054-In early 1729 Bach became director of the so-called »Scottish Collegium Musician« a music organization of students and local citizens. The remarkable results of this undertaking are the concertos for harpsichord. Today it is almost certain that practically all of these concertos were transcribed from concertos for melody instruments (mostly violin or oboe). The D-major Concerto BWV 1054 originated as a transcription of Bach’s Violin Concerto in E major BWV 1042. The principal source for our edition is the autograph score of Bach’s harpsichord concertos preserved in the Berlin Staatsbibliothek (Mus. ms. Bach P 234) where BWV 1054 forms the third item. Toaccommodate the upper limit of the harpsichord keyboard Bach decided to transpose the piece down a whole tone which allowed him to retain the frequently occurring peak pitch e3 without altering the melodic line. The D-major Concerto owes its popularity to the clear and straightforward formal design of its movements no less than its overall mood of relaxed merriment. This mood also finds expression in Bach’s choice of the rondo form for the final movement a form otherwise seldom encountered in his concertos.Urtext of the New Bach EditionFull score & parts (BA5226) two-keyboard reduction (BA5226-90) and study score (TP410) format 22.5 x 16.5cm (all 6 concertos) available for sale

He has since recorded over 30 CDs and his passion for the instrument has been further apparent in his production of Apprendre à Toucher le Clavecin. However a recent rise in the popularity of early music has rekindled interest in the Harpsichord. In Apprendre à Toucher le Clavecin volume 1 beingthe first of two helpful volumes to aid student's learning and progression Siegel enables Harpsichord beginners to learn through repertoire pieces themselves drawn from the Keyboard masters of the Baroque period. The pupil will be guided towards an understanding of technique and style suited to the Harpsichord. A Harpsichord is a musical instrument played by means of a keyboard. It produces sound by plucking a string when a key is pressed. The instrument was widely used in Renaissance and Baroque music. During the late 18th century it gradually disappeared from the musical scene with the rise of the Piano. In the 20th century it made a resurgence being used in historically informed performances of older music in new (contemporary) compositions and inpopular culture. This piece is perfect for anyone who wants to discover this unique instrument. Composed in 1966 by Elizabeth Maconchy the upbeat allegro of Notebook For Harpsichord takesapproximately 8 minutes to perform.
